A new batch of Sahara dust is coming to Germany this week.

In combination with the expected precipitation, blood rain can also fall from the sky.

Munich – In the past few days, Germany has been spoiled with plenty of sunshine and almost summery temperatures.

In Bavaria, too, the "Peter" high caused temperatures of around 20 degrees.

But a drastic change in the weather is imminent this week.

In addition to falling temperatures and increasing precipitation, weather forecasts predict another phenomenon for Germany: the Sahara dust - and with the expected showers also so-called "blood rain" - will return to Germany again in the next few days.

Sahara dust also in Germany this week – but what is blood rain anyway?

The rare weather phenomenon, which is often associated with a red and yellow sky and blood rain, spread to all of Bavaria in mid-March.

Large amounts of dust from the Sahara have colored the sky in many places intense orange and red tones.

Now another large cloud of dust from the Sahara is on its way to Central Europe.

"The dust concentration is overall weaker than the last visit to the desert sand," explains meteorologist Carlo Pfaff, according to

wetter.de

.

Already on Monday (March 28, 2022) the Sahara dust appeared over Spain and France, also on the Rhine and then spread over the entire center and south of Germany.

With the onset of precipitation, the chances of a blood rain are then high.

This occurs when the Sahara dust is “washed down” by showers.

As a result, the rain takes on a yellow or reddish tint - hence the name "blood rain".

The weather phenomenon can be observed particularly well on dusty and reddish-colored cars.

In such a case, there are a few tips to keep in mind when washing your car.

In the next few days, Sahara dust will spread over Germany again.

Weather in Germany: Sahara dust hits the south and the center of the country in particular - blood rain is possible

According to wetteronline

, on Tuesday, March 29, Germany reached

a significant amount of Sahara dust, with central and southern Germany being particularly affected.

Meteorologist Pfaff predicted to wetter.de

:

“On Tuesday the first rain will be in the west and it will also rain in the middle of Germany.

So that the dust could fall down as a rain of blood.” Coming from Spain and France, the Sahara dust travels further north via Germany to the south of the British Isles.

According to Carlo Pfaff, the dust from the Sahara would then be on Wednesday over an area from the low mountain ranges to the Danube and could fall there as blood rain.

However, the extreme north will probably remain dry, so there is not much risk of cars being covered with Saharan dust.

According to wetter.de

, the weather phenomenon

will already come to an end on Thursday.

With the rain, the increased amount of dust in the south will soon have settled by the end of the week and significantly cooler and dust-free air will reach the Alps.

Sahara dust 2022 in Germany: Best seen in the morning and evening

If you want to see the rare weather phenomenon as best as possible, you should look out of the window at sunrise and sunset – by the way, these can also be cleaned streak-free with home remedies after the blood rain.

According to

wetteronline,

strong twilight colors can appear in the sky during the daytime.

At the same time, however, the fine dust pollution is also increasing regionally due to the Sahara dust.
