Yang Zuci personally responded to "Hong Kong 01" the day after the fire alarm, saying that there was a short circuit in the electric switch in the sauna room in the house, which caused the fire alarm. He also said that no one was injured in the incident, but the sauna room was damaged.
The police responded that the fire was suspected to be caused by overheating of clothing in the sauna.
Outside the detached house that caught fire, the wall that had previously occupied the official land had been removed, but some of the foundations still occupied the official land.

According to the news, the unit caught fire more than 2:00 pm. A lot of smoke came from the unit on the second floor. When the fire was at its peak, the smoke surrounded the entire unit. After the firefighters arrived, they broke the window on the balcony on the second floor to fight the fire, which lasted more than an hour. .

At least three firefighters had just arrived and entered the house from the ground. Outside the house, the windows of the second-floor terrace were still not covered with black tape.
The next day after the fire, a reporter arrived at the scene to inspect. The exterior wall of the detached house was not blackened, but a window on the balcony on the second floor was suspected to be damaged. It was only covered with black tape.

The Fire Services Department responded that the incident was a Class 1 fire.
The fire department received a report at 3 p.m. Sunday that there was a fire in the single-family house involved, and five fire trucks, an ambulance and a team of smoke hats were used in the incident.
Before the firefighters arrived, a man and two women in the house were evacuated by themselves, and no one was injured in the incident.
The prescription stated that the source of the fire was the second floor of the detached house, but the cause is still under investigation.

In addition to dominating the official land, Yang Zuci's detached house is also suspected of occupying about 500 square feet of adjacent private land, and was filed for recovery.
Yang's husband and wife had applied for adverse occupation, but they lost the original trial and were sentenced to pay the original owner at least 80,000 yuan in rent. The two later applied for an appeal.
According to court documents, during the trial of the case of tyranny of private land, it was revealed that the two of them were parking on the official land. When Yang's wife responded to the judge's question, she said "everyone does it", and asked why they had to verify the land ownership, which was reprimanded by the judge. The two are innocent.
Despite Yang Zuci's involvement in the land property dispute, the government in December approved Yang Yan as the superintendent of the Auxiliary Police Force for a two-and-a-half-year term until July 6, 2024.
