Detective Central Investigators arrested two suspects this evening (Monday) at the end of an undercover operation on Road 1, with an explosive device in their possession.

The activity took place near the Anaba interchange, with an explosive device in the vehicle that was allegedly held by a resident of East Jerusalem and a resident of Lod.

Meanwhile, Central District saboteurs are now conducting a scan of the vehicle to deny additional explosives, along with neutralizing the existing explosives for public safety, with all findings being forwarded for further extraction of evidence in the sabotage and forensic laboratories.

As stated, the police detectives arrested the suspects and tomorrow the police will request an extension of their detention in the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court, in accordance with the needs of the investigation.

There are traffic jams in the place in both directions, until the end of the activity of the police saboteurs, to prevent danger to all road users and it is recommended at the moment to move on Road 443.

The police said that "this is a life-saving operational achievement, as part of the Central District's offensive strategy against criminal elements, with an emphasis on preventing criminal and other elements from accessing weapons and thus enabling the law-abiding public to lead a proper and safe life."
