Last week, the government announced the "Roadmap to Return to Business", which will ease social distancing measures in stages starting from April 21.

The first stage will allow catering and scheduled premises regulated by Cap. 599F to reopen, including religious premises.

In preparation for the reopening of the Kowloon Mosque, today (29th) staff were arranged to spray the mosque with a long-lasting smart anti-virus coating developed by a local university. It is hoped that after the reopening, believers can come to worship with confidence.

After the reopening, each session will be limited, with a maximum of 500 people present at the same time. There are only 5 sessions per day, which is 38% less than the peak number when there was no epidemic.

IIysd Muhammad, secretary of the Kowloon Mosque, said that the closure of the temple had a great impact on them, and hoped that it would reopen smoothly on the 21st.

"I hope all the Muslims who have returned to Hong Kong are happy... I hope Covid (coronavirus) will leave us and this world."
