Stuttgart – For a long time, the corona virus in Baden-Württemberg prevented people from enjoying the nightlife and visiting the discotheques in the region.

Normally bouncers in front of the clubs take care of this - some of you have certainly experienced it first hand.

The clubs are now allowed to welcome their party guests again.

Now, however, Mehmet Ildes, spokesman for the Stuttgart youth council, and his friend have started a debate that is making waves in the club scene.

Bouncers in Stuttgart operate supposedly racist club politics

According to the reports of the member of the Stuttgart youth council and his friend, a racist club policy prevails in the nightlife of the state capital Stuttgart.

"We are excluded from partying because we look the way we look, often even when we're on the guest list," criticizes Mehmet Ildes, adding that the bouncers would immediately label him as "the foreigner" as a criminal.

As reported by the

Stuttgarter Nachrichten

, the two always make sure that they are dressed appropriately when they visit the club, that they remain calm in the queue in front of the club door and that they don't drink anything.

Despite all the "precautions" the two would still be rejected again and again.

After an incident, Mehmet Ildiz shoots a video in front of the "Hi Life" club in which he reports on racism.

Because the bouncers feel provoked by this, they force him to delete the recordings.

When his friend tries to mediate, he is slapped in the face.

Ildiz nevertheless uploads the video to Instagram a day later and receives confirmation from many users.

Debate about racist club politics in Stuttgart causes a stir in nightlife

The criticism of the two men with a migration background is not only heard on Instagram, the operator of "Hi Life", Denis Gugac, also reacts to the allegations.

He was "completely perplexed".

"The fact that being sorted out at the door could be perceived as racist has not been a priority for me up until now.

Simply because racism does not play a role in our attitude and in our club policy," said Gugac.

Together with Stuttgart's night manager Nils Runge, a mediation meeting was initiated between Mehmet Ildiz, his friend and the bouncers of "Hi Life".

But Alexander Scholz from Perkins Park and chairman of the Club Kollektiv interest group also sees no racism in the clubs in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg.

"We are cosmopolitan, 90 percent of our employees have a migration background," says Scholz.

One should not immediately define a rejection as racism, he says.

In the end, the bouncers were able to convince the friends that they hadn't acted out of racist motives and apologized for their actions.
