An elderly couple was found dead Tuesday morning March 29 in the fire of their house in Castres, AFP learned from the Tarn firefighters.

The emergency services were alerted around 5 a.m. when a fire ravaged this house located near Castres station.
On the spot, they found a woman in her bed, on the first floor, and her husband, in his medical bed on the ground floor, both dead, learns AFP from the same source.
The bodies of the two victims were not removed from the rubble for the purposes of the investigation.

Six other people, including neighbors and a firefighter bothered by the smoke, were evacuated to Castres hospital.
By 9:00 a.m., the fire was extinguished, allowing firefighters to secure the remains of the charred dwelling.
