The "Tong Le Ju" under the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children is suspected of child abuse incidents. So far, the police have arrested 34 people and charged 27 female staff members.
A defendant who was admitted to the High Court today (29th) applied for bail.
After hearing the arguments, Judge Kimberly granted the defendant a bail of 10,000 yuan in cash.
Defendant Zhuang Jiayi, 25, was charged with one count of assault against a child or juvenile in his custody.
The defendant was released on bail when the case was brought up in the Magistrates' Court.
When the case was re-examined in February this year, the prosecution applied to revoke the bail of her and the other three defendants, which was approved by the magistrate. The case will be re-examined on April 25.
The defendant has now applied for bail at the High Court and was approved. In addition to providing a bail of 10,000 yuan, she is not allowed to leave Hong Kong during the bail period. She lives at the reported address. She has to report to the police station once a week and is not allowed to enter the Tong Le Residence. Within 100 meters, do not participate in any work involving taking care of children, and do not contact prosecution witnesses, staff of Tongleju, children, and children's family members.
