Refugees from Ukraine can get help under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.
The city of Regensburg gives an overview of the offers of help.
Regensburg – More and more refugees from Ukraine are arriving in Bavaria.
Many of them also end up in emergency or initial shelters in the Upper Palatinate.
Subsequent official procedures are particularly complicated for those who do not speak German.
The city of Regensburg has now summarized - also in Ukrainian - how war refugees can apply for financial and medical aid.
An overview.
Regensburg: Apply for financial support
Applications for financial benefits are accepted by the Office for Social Affairs at the ANKER Center location (Bajuwarenstrasse 1a, Building No. B 1, purple entrance, 2nd floor) by prior appointment.
Applicants must bring the following documents with them: fully completed and signed application form (www.regensburg.de/anmeldung-asylbewerberdienstleistungen), proof of foreigner status, Ukrainian passport (if available), registration certificate (if available) and proof of existing bank details in Germany (bank card , bank statements of the last three months).
If accommodation costs are incurred for a private apartment, a separate (sub)lease agreement or, if the main occupant is the tenant of the property, a tenancy agreement from the main tenant must also be submitted.
In addition, the documents must be scanned in advance and sent to sozialamt-ukraine@regensburg.de.
If the applicant does not have any knowledge of German or English, it is advisable to take an accompanying person with the appropriate language skills.
Refugees in Regensburg: who pays the rent?
Rental costs can be covered within the framework of the provision of services up to a certain amount.
If you intend to rent an apartment, approval is required to cover the rental costs.
Therefore, before signing a rental contract, the corresponding rental offer or a copy of the rental contract should be submitted to the Office for Social Affairs.
The amount of rent must be based on the valid rent index of the city of Regensburg.
Regensburg: Where do refugees get medical help?
Refugees receive a medical treatment certificate as part of their application.
In urgent medical cases that cannot be postponed, people can contact a doctor's practice or a hospital.
If you are not yet receiving benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, the Office for Social Affairs asks you to make an appointment for an appointment after treatment by telephone (0941) 50 77 50 5.
These appointments also take place in the contact point of the Office for Social Affairs on the premises of the ANKER Center.
