New drama in Israel.
At least five people were killed and several injured on Tuesday evening in armed attacks on the outskirts of the Israeli metropolis Tel Aviv, rescuers said.
"Unfortunately, we have seen the death of five people," said Elie Bin, director of Magen David Adom, Israel's equivalent of the Red Cross.
He had initially announced a balance sheet of two dead and several wounded.
While rescuers and witnesses reported injuries in another attack in the nearby town of Ramat Gan, the attack is the third attack in a week in Israel.
Two attacks and six dead in one week
Two Israeli police officers were killed in a shooting claimed by the jihadist organization Islamic State (IS), Sunday in Hadera, in the north of Israel.
Israeli police have identified the attackers who were shot as Israeli Arab ISIS operatives.
On March 22 in Beersheba, in the south of the country, four Israelis – two men and two women – were killed in a knife and car-ramming attack carried out by a man inspired by the ideology of the Islamic State group.
The assailant was a teacher sentenced in 2016 to four years in prison for planning to travel to Syria to fight in IS and for sermons advocating for him.
