In the face of the severe epidemic, our frontline personnel have both new forces trained in Hong Kong and loyal supporters from the mainland.

Their joining has undoubtedly strengthened our strength in the face of the epidemic, allowing us to continue to fight against the fifth wave of the epidemic.

Let me talk about the mainland's helping hand first. I remember that as early as 2007, the Hospital Authority and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Health jointly organized the "Guangdong-Hong Kong Specialist Nurse Training Program". Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, etc.

The several-year plan has laid the foundation for long-term exchange and learning for the nurses in the two places. Many nurses have established friendship with each other, and they will also drop by to greet each other when they pass by each other's cities.

Since then, the HA will continue to continue the exchange and learning between the local and mainland provinces and cities through the HA Continuing Education Institute and various hospitals.

It can be seen that the cooperation of the year has created an opportunity for nurses from China and Hong Kong to take care of patients side by side.

Now Hong Kong people are facing the severe fifth wave of the epidemic, and they have also received timely assistance from the central government. A medical team from the mainland has been dispatched to Hong Kong. More than 390 members have joined our colleagues in the new crown treatment center (Hong Kong Medical Center). Museum) to treat COVID-19 patients in a collaborative mode.

I think if there is no basis for the intention to cooperate on the day, and the continuous professional exchange activities with the Greater Bay Area and various provinces and cities over the years, the medical and nursing cooperation between the two places may not be so smooth today.

Chinese and Hong Kong doctors and nurses join hands to treat new crown patients and jointly fight against the fifth wave of the epidemic.

In terms of local training, when there were a large number of confirmed cases in the community earlier, we have set up a special hotline, where a small team of nurses and allied medical colleagues will answer the inquiries of asymptomatic or mildly diagnosed patients who are waiting to be admitted to the isolation facility, and provide infection control advice. .

Later, as the number of patients continued to increase, the workload of the hotline team became larger and larger, and the colleagues in charge were overwhelmed and in urgent need of manpower. However, in the case of the shortage of nurses, how to allocate manpower for assistance became a problem. This is a big problem, and many colleagues have been dispatched to various community treatment and isolation centers to take care of patients.

Fortunately, we have a large group of enthusiastic nursing student volunteers, nursing students and teachers from tertiary institutions, nurses and staff from the district health center who offered to help become hotline specialists.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to this batch of "new forces" who have given us the manpower to handle more complex cases and the surge in telephone enquiries.

By mid-March, the government launched the "Isolation Nursing Observation System", through which confirmed patients will report their symptoms. Our team of nurses will identify patients with more serious conditions, call them to learn about their conditions, and refer them for telemedicine consultation if necessary. , or referral to designated clinics to provide them with appropriate care.

The teachers and students volunteers of "Xinlijun" also offered to help, hoping to buy time to help the elderly who need more attention.

In particular, the "Xin Lijun" is not only the nursing students, but also the students and teachers of public health and various medical sciences. Everyone is enthusiastic to participate.

It is not easy to win the battle against the epidemic, but I believe that this epidemic will be a rare learning opportunity for both senior nurses and novice medical professionals, which will have an important impact on their clinical professional careers in the future.

"Hong Kong 01" "01 Clinic", in cooperation with the Hospital Authority, publishes a column "Garden Tour" written by medical staff every Wednesday.

Apricot Forest.

"Xinglin" comes from the story of Dong Feng, a famous doctor in the Three Kingdoms era. Later generations praised medical care as "Xinglin". Four people from Xinglin from the Hospital Authority led the garden to visit Xinglin Grand View Garden. A little bit of reason.
