The Council of Ministers approved, in its weekly session today, headed by Engineer Hussein Arnous, to increase the monthly bonuses for anesthesia doctors and technicians in appreciation of the efforts they make and with the aim of improving their living conditions. The decision comes within a package of decisions aimed at supporting workers in the health public sector.

The Council discussed the draft legislative instrument related to amending Legislative Decree No. 39 of 2001 regulating the mechanism of taking technical institutes as production centers with the aim of achieving integration between theoretical study and practical application and improving the quality of technical education outputs in a way that supports social and economic development plans and keeps pace with developments in the labor market. It also studied a draft law Digital signature and information technology services to replace the Electronic Signature and Network Services Law No. 4 of 2009 with the aim of keeping pace with the rapid development in the telecommunications and information technology sector and supporting the development of the national software industry process.

Engineer Arnous stressed the need to conduct a careful review of the work of the ports and the accuracy of the numbers related to the export, import and delivery operations, and to set an integrated plan to develop the work of the ports and simplify the procedures therein. He asked the ministries to prepare plans and future work programs according to the determinants of the national framework for regional planning, which aims to bring about sustainable and balanced development in all sectors On the spatial level and the optimal investment of the components and capabilities of each region.

After a presentation by the Minister of Industry on the reality of the General Corporation for Food Industries and the Ministry's vision to advance the Corporation and enhance its role in investment and agricultural manufacturing and to secure the local market's need of foodstuffs, the Council discussed extensively the necessary measures to advance the work of the Corporation and its subsidiaries and decided to grant them a financial advance of /5 billion Syrian Pounds to secure the necessary liquidity to revitalize the work of the institution and increase its productivity and to form a follow-up committee to manage the assets of these companies. It also decided to cancel the boards of directors and administrative committees in the suspended companies affiliated with the Food Industries Corporation, which there is no possibility to restart them at the present time, in addition to transferring workers on their owners to productive institutions in the governorate itself.

The Council was briefed by the Minister of Electricity on the progress of work in the completion of the two power stations of Rastan in Latakia and the thermal station in Aleppo, and stressed the importance of daily follow-up and redoubling of efforts to overcome any obstacles and put the two stations into service on time.

In the service part, the council agreed to complete the implementation of the structure, cladding, general site and sanitation works for Island 17 in the Qudsaya suburb expansion project in Damascus countryside. It also approved a number of service and development projects in a number of governorates.
