Tunisian President Case Said has announced he will dissolve parliament after freezing him "temporarily" on July 21.
Said's decision comes after earlier today, MPs whose activities had been suspended gathered in protest against him at a network meeting.
MPs voted in favor of repealing his latest resolutions which gave him unlimited powers.
As you may recall, Tunisian President Case Said led an extreme move in the summer in which he fired the prime minister, Hisham Mashishi, and froze the country's parliamentary activities for 30 days.
He later appointed Najla Bowden Ramadan Prime Minister.
This move exacerbated the political crisis in the country and took place in the shadow of violent protests that erupted in a number of cities across the country following the economic situation and corona restrictions.
Tunisia has been considered since the Arab Spring protests an Arab country in which significant progress has been made towards democracy.
In the years since, parliamentary and presidential elections have been held and a multi-party system has emerged.
