The Créteil public prosecutor's office requested the release on Wednesday March 30 of a police officer tried for violence committed against a minor and his father in August 2019 at the Kremlin-Bicêtre police station (Val-de-Marne), in the Paris suburbs.

On the other hand, six months of suspended imprisonment were required against the father, Yann G., who appeared the same day for "

contempt and rebellion

".

The decision will be made on June 1.

On August 1, 2019, Yann G. came to the Kremlin-Bicêtre police station to pick up his 15-year-old son at the time, who was coming out of police custody.

According to this father, with a clean criminal record, the police then addressed several contemptuous remarks to them.

The tone rises and a policeman insults him.

Then he "

punches me a series of punches

", says the father at the bar, then "

kicks

" his son "

sitting on the ground without protection

" and immobilized by several officials.

Five and ten days of temporary interruption of work (ITT) are given to them, a scanner revealing a fracture of the clean bones of the nose at the teenager.

The policeman says he had to intervene in the face of a very agitated father, who refused to leave the police station.

In front of the criminal court, he described "

an exchange of blows in the melee

".

The blow given to Yann G.?

Not voluntary: he was trying to protect himself from being spat in the face.

For the policeman's lawyer, the seriousness of the injuries of the father and the son was exaggerated, citing an initial medical examination which had established only two days of ITT.

“Outrageous remarks” from the father of the family

While the prosecutor had herself chosen to refer this case to court, the magistrate felt on Tuesday that she had "

no element which allows me to say that (the son) was the victim of violence by the police

".

In her submissions, she castigated

the "totally inappropriate attitude

" and the "

outrageous remarks

" of the father of the family, at the police station and in court, noting that his statements and those of his son had changed several times.

Why would the word of police officers be worth more than that of Yann G.?

“Lamented the family lawyer, Me Yvan Bonet, wondering more generally about the functioning of the Kremlin-Bicêtre police station.

The families of four teenagers, who had been detained there in May 2020, filed a complaint for arbitrary detention and racist insults, prompting the seizure of the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).
