Budget presented: Bad Wiessee wants to invest here in 2022

Bad Wiessee – The Bad Wiessee municipal council unanimously approved its 35.7 million budget for 2022.

Numerous investments are pending.

Mayor Robert Kühn paid tribute to the long-standing treasurer of the municipality of Bad Wiessee, Franz Ströbel, when he recently presented the budget for 2022 to the municipal council.

It is thanks to his competent and conservative approach that "we can still set up such a budget at all at this time".

At the beginning of his presentation, the chamberlain could not help but point out the well-known fact that the municipality had a large mountain of debt: at the end of 2021, this amounted to almost 17 million euros.

At the beginning of 2022, the company Bayerngrund (casino) owed 8.2 million euros.

That is around 865,000 euros less than in 2020. The war in Ukraine and the interest rate policy of the European Central Bank would certainly have an impact on municipal budgets in the coming years, the treasurer emphasized.

Three major projects planned

In the coming years, the budget will be shaped primarily by the new construction of the kindergarten, demolition and new construction of the bathing park and the planned renovation of the community-owned Hotel Gasthof zur Post, the treasurer explained.

• The first construction phase of the daycare center, planned for 2022, is estimated at 3.9 million euros.

  Overall, the new building is valued at 12 million euros.

• In order to plan how the inn in the town center can be redesigned, 200,000 euros have been calculated.

• The heavyweight of the budget is the promptly planned demolition of the bathing park, which is estimated at a whopping 2.2 million euros net.

• Other cost-intensive items are measures to rehabilitate streets: the expansion of Freihausweg (240,000 euros), the renovation of Sankt-Antonius-Straße (342,000 euros) including a new water pipe (130,000 euros) and the laying of water pipes (180,000 euros) and rainwater sewer (315,000 euros) in the floor cutting line.

Focus on roads and school

Ströbel emphasized that in the future it will continue to be important to differentiate between feasibility and the possibility of individual investments.

In view of the financial situation, the municipality of Bad Wiessee will have to concentrate primarily on its obligatory tasks such as roads, water supply, kindergarten and school in the next few years.

With a total volume of 35.7 million euros, new borrowing of 8.2 million euros is necessary in the current year, Ströbel explained. Due to the drastically slump in income, the treasurer reduced the casino tax by 100,000 euros.

This had shrunk by around 1.6 million from 2020 to 2021.

The case with trade tax is just as serious, which flushed around 1.7 million less into the coffers in 2021, which is why the estimate for 2022 was reduced by 500,000 euros to 2.5 million euros.

More guests are expected in Bad Wiessee again

But Ströbel was also able to report positive things: The share of income tax is becoming a fixed factor in the household and could be estimated at a good 200,000 euros higher than in 2021. Ströbel also expects a plus of 250,000 euros for the tourism contribution, i.e. a total of 1.1 million euros in 2022.

The resort tax, although it has been reduced to 3 euros per person, is again set at 1.35 million, as the number of guests is expected to increase again in 2022.

Personnel costs are expected to fall by a good 17 percent in 2022, which is mainly due to the closure of the bathing park.

New construction of the casino is still a burden

The administrative budget for 2022 is 22.1 million euros.

Ströbel estimated the budget at 1.36 million euros.

That is enough to repay loans taken out, but not for further investments or to finance the debt service through the construction of the casino (930,000 euros for 2022).

Ströbel made it clear that this could not be managed without taking on new debt.

The chamberlain gave a positive assessment of the planned hotel by the Athos company, which will bring significantly higher income to the community in the medium term, as well as other potential projects in the hotel industry.

Franz Ströbel's work finally found unanimous recognition and approval among the municipal councils.

The plan was passed with 19:0 votes.
