During its regular meeting today, headed by the Prime Minister, Engineer Hussein Arnous, the Supreme Investment Council conducted a follow-up to the implementation of the projects that obtained investment licenses and to see the progress of work in addressing the requests of investors wishing to obtain the investment license in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 18 of 2021, where the engineer emphasized the provision of all facilities projects, putting them into execution according to the specified periods, and expediting the granting of licenses and investment licenses.
The council discussed the memorandum of the committee formed to prepare a draft decision system for the use of real estate owned by public authorities for the purpose of investing them in accordance with the investment law. It also studied the proposed mechanism for preparing and offering sites belonging to public authorities, popular organizations and professional syndicates for tourism investment. It also reviewed industrial and agricultural projects referred to the spatio-location committees to conduct detection and grant them approvals. Necessary to complete the procedures for obtaining an investment license.
The Prime Minister stressed the keenness to follow up periodically and continuously the reality of investment projects and to overcome any obstacles in front of them, given the importance of investment in advancing the economic and service reality and securing more job opportunities. Concretely as soon as possible and finding immediate solutions to any problem that may be encountered in order to put it into actual production.
The number of projects granted investment permits since the beginning of the new investment law has reached 23 projects at an estimated cost of 1.246 trillion Syrian pounds, providing about 1,846 job opportunities, and it includes the fields of manufacturing medical syringes, plastic masks, the production of solvents and raw materials for pesticides and paints, the production of medical ethyl alcohol, oils, ghee, vegetable butter and the production of acrylic yarns Mixed filaments, electricity generation using renewable “photovoltaic” energy, the production of infant formula, the manufacture of silica powder from quartz sand, the production of human medicines, the manufacture of phosphate fertilizers, detergents, powder, soap, and sterile and disinfectant materials.
