Economics Minister Robert Habeck announced the gas early warning stage.
This could be an opportunity for the energy transition, comments Klaus Rimpel.
Munich – States like Poland and Ukraine had warned the federal government years ago in the Nord Stream debate: Putin will use his gas as a weapon!
Berlin always dismissed this with the flimsy argument that the Soviet Union never turned off the gas supply, even during the coldest Cold War.
The counter-argument was obvious, because Putin had already briefly stopped energy supplies to Ukraine in 2006, thereby proving that he was taking more radical action than his Soviet predecessors, Brezhnev or Khrushchev.
The warlord in the Kremlin is ready to use the raw materials of his vast empire for an economic war, regardless of his own economic interests or the well-being of his citizens - in the conviction that the "softened West" will then quickly give in.

But it's no use lamenting past failings on the part of the federal government.
The traffic light must act now.
Fracking gas from the USA, energy also from the dubious sheikhs in Qatar: It is correct when Robert Habeck puts moral and environmental concerns aside in this acute emergency situation and pragmatically procures energy, no matter where it comes from.
According to Klaus Rimpel, Habeck's gas emergency plan is an opportunity for the energy transition.

Energy transition: switch from “more radical to renewable”.
But it is even more important now to finally switch more radically to renewables: a solar obligation for new buildings, wind energy wherever possible, massive subsidies for the expansion of alternative energy sources: only renewable energies will make us independent of oil, gas and coal in the long term unjust states.
Putin's cold-bloodedness could at least help Habeck to initiate a real energy transition.
