Kate Middleton: 'I actually blushed when I met you'

Kate Middleton still remembers her first meeting with husband William.

The encounter with a real prince ended in an escape attempt.

London – Your love story gets Royal fans all over the world in raptures: Prince William (39) and Kate Middleton (40) are considered an absolute dream couple.

For years they have had a happy, picture-perfect relationship, which initially had to overcome many a stumbling block.

Kate Middleton: 'I actually blushed when I met you'

In 2001 fate takes its course.

Both Prince William and middle-class Kate Middleton, who grew up away from the limelight in the county of Berkshire, are enrolling at St. Andrews University in Scotland.

Since both have decided to study art history - William later switches to geography - their first meeting is not long in coming.

The encounter with Queen Elizabeth II's grandson (95) is burned into Duchess Kate's memory, as a 2010 interview shows. 

A well-rehearsed team: Prince William and Kate Middleton have been going through life together for around 20 years.

On the occasion of their engagement in November 2010, William and Kate gave ITV a glimpse of their relationship, which also included their meeting at university.

The then 28-year-old confided to journalist Tom Brady that she blushed in William's presence and quickly fled: "I actually blushed bright red when I met you [William] and kind of scooted away because I became embarrassed about meeting you.” For more than a year, the royal student and his fellow student were just friends, during which time Kate even helped William as a wing woman.

Kate Middleton and Prince William: When friendship becomes great love

Despite the initial difficulties, William was able to win his Kate's heart and the close friendship between the two soon developed into an intimate partnership and ultimately a happy marriage.

The parents of three celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary last year, and their happiness in love continues.

With a life in the center of attention, Kate is said to have never dreamed of meeting Prince William, but she certainly has no regrets.
