Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed today that the United States has threatened to topple his government because of his refusal to establish US military bases in his country, expressing his refusal to resign from his post.
"I announce to the people that I have received a threatening letter from America," Khan said in a speech broadcast on state television, media quoted Khan, adding that "the United States threatened to topple my government because I refused to establish military bases on our land."
Khan confirmed his refusal to resign, accusing Washington of "supporting the opposition," stressing the need for "Pakistan's foreign policy to be independent."
The Pakistani Prime Minister's speech came after discussions in his country's parliament on a motion of no-confidence were postponed until next Sunday.
