Weßlinger Strasse in Steinebach has been closed for months because of the Kirchenwirt construction site.

During the Easter holidays, the Kuckuckstraße is now closed for four days.

This led to a debate about reasonableness and the information policy of the municipal administration.

Steinebach

– The municipality of Wörthsee is building affordable rental apartments in the center of Steinebach and is also renovating the Kirchenwirt.

For this reason, Weßlinger Straße has been closed for months - and will remain so for a while.

The construction of water pipes on Kuckuckstrasse, which will lead to another closure there from April 11th to 23rd, will not change anything.

"We wanted a traffic light solution on Kuckuckstrasse so that at least one lane remains open," reports Mayor Christel Muggenthal in an interview with Starnberger Merkur.

The plan is to build water pipes to the supermarket under construction.

However, the district office did not approve the traffic light solution.

"It feared a backlog on Etterschlager Straße," explains Muggenthal.

So the Kuckuckstraße is now completely closed without further ado.

The people in the residential area at Kuckucksheim, which stretches east from the level of the Kirchenwirt to the direction of Etterschlag and Kuckuckstraße, are again affected.

The residents have to take detours because of the closure of Weßlinger Straße and also use secret routes, which is why residents are annoyed by side streets.

"We had a lot of calls at first," reports Muggenthal.

Harald Lossau (FW) feels differently.

"People think the long lockdown is bad," he said at the municipal council meeting on Monday.

"The municipality takes a right here that it denies to others." That has a signal effect "that I don't think is beneficial".

He suggested opening Weßlinger Strasse in front of the Kirchenwirt construction site for the four days before Easter because of the closure at Kuckucksheim.

At Muggenthal he bit down on granite.

"Dismantling the construction site at the Kirchenwirt is too much effort," she said.

She doesn't agree with that.

Muggenthal lives in Cuckoo's Home himself, so it is also affected by the closures.

"From that point of view, I think it's reasonable," she stated.

Apart from that, the congregation at the Kirchenwirt does not build for their private pleasure.

"But affordable housing is being created there."

Dirk Bödicker (WA) was also critical of a temporary opening at the Kirchenwirt: "It arouses desires," he said.

However, he also considers the duration of the blockage “a burden and at some point an impertinence”.

Bödicker clearly criticized the administration: "The municipality must work on its information policy." It also has a duty of care towards the people who live on the detour routes.

"They just have to know." Muggenthal announced publications on the community's website in this regard.

Office manager Christa Heintel is still waiting for the traffic regulations from the district office.

At the moment there is an announcement of the closure of Cuckoo Street on the municipality's website with a map of the area.

The blocking at the Kirchenwirt is expected to last until mid-2023. "But paving work on the crossing will cause disabilities even after the blocking has been lifted," says Muggenthal.
