Providing the university theater in Aleppo with new young talents and providing them with the experiences of veteran playwrights was the main motive for launching the actor preparation workshop held by the Aleppo branch of the National Union of Syrian Students.

The workshop, which included a set of theoretical and practical exercises, was talked about by the supervisor, artist Ahmed Makrati, in a statement to SANA reporter that it witnessed the participation of 36 male and female students from various colleges and institutes in Aleppo who were selected during a test that the applicants passed.

The training of the participants, according to Makrati, is supervised by a group of stars of the Aleppo theater to provide their information and experiences in this field, pointing out that an artistic production is being prepared at the conclusion of the workshop, explaining what the trainees have learned, entitled “Shahrazad” from his idea and written by the young Ahmed Attar.

Trainer Wissam Abdo pointed out that the workshop provides students with practical exercises to present dance paintings to express a set of stories that carry meaningful messages.

The head of the Culture and Arts Office in the Aleppo branch of the Students’ Union, Omar Dakkak, stated that based on the union’s duty to attract and develop young talents in many fields, this workshop was launched with the aim of presenting a purposeful and valuable theatrical production based on young queens.

Scheherazade's presentation, which is considered a graduation project for this workshop, includes, as explained by the young participant, Alaa Jabban, 6 theatrical paintings that talk about the problems of youth in general, in addition to many societal and humanitarian issues such as violence against women and others.

Among the participants in the workshop, Rabie Makhlouf described the experience as beautiful, as it allowed him to enter the world of theater to receive here a lot of information on many useful aspects in the field of acting.

The participant, Firas Hamwi, drew attention to the benefit that he gains through this workshop to present his talent and break many barriers within him, especially the fear of standing on stage, in addition to challenging his circumstances as a person with a disability.

While the young participant Yola Toma from the Faculty of Education at the University of Aleppo expressed her love for theatrical acting and her happiness to participate in the actor preparation workshop to refine and develop her talent, adding that the practical exercises positively affected her psyche and gave her more self-confidence to face the theater audience.
