US President Bill Clinton has met Barak and Arafat for the second time since the beginning of the Camp David summit.

A White House spokesman said the three leaders spoke until one o'clock yesterday morning after the Israeli delegation hosted the American and Palestinian delegations for a traditional Shabbat dinner.

Arafat and Barak had only one conversation during the five days of the summit.

This conversation has been defined as difficult and tense.

The crisis in talks began on Thursday when Palestinians claimed that US positions were closer to Israeli positions. However, after dinner and the meeting between Barak and Arafat, American sources say President Clinton seemed to ease the tension

. Several hundred of Barak's supporters made a car trip from Tel Aviv to Haifa.

In the Jabalya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated for the right of return of Palestinian refugees.

Since there is no progress at the summit, Israeli sources said that it may continue until Clinton returns from the Conference of Industrialized Countries in Japan.

Ehud Barak's spokesman Gadi Baltiansky said that "if we reach an agreement before then it will be good, but if not, I do not see a problem staying here for another three or four days."

According to him, a period of two weeks in which Barak will stay outside the country's borders makes sense.

Meanwhile, the last place in the Israeli delegation to Camp David was manned today.

The prime minister has decided to add Israel Hasson, who until recently was deputy head of the Shin Bet, to Israel

. Tonight, Limor Livnat (Likud) called for the return of all the businessmen that Barak attached to the delegation, headed by lawyer Gilad Sher.
