China has renewed its rejection of the Western unilateral sanctions policy against Russia, calling for doing something concrete to solve the Ukraine crisis.
The problem now is not about who wants to help Russia circumvent sanctions, but about the fact that trade exchanges between countries, including China and Russia, have already been unnecessarily damaged, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press conference today.
Zhao stressed that some forces are trying to escalate tensions and divide the world by using the issue of sanctions without justification, stressing his country's rejection of those unilateral sanctions because they are not a way to solve problems, but only lead to creating new problems.
Zhao noted that his country is committed to an independent, peaceful foreign policy and supports and encourages all diplomatic efforts that lead to a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis, stressing that his country has played a constructive role in preventing a humanitarian crisis and the return of the Cold War mentality and blocs.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Wang Yi described his country's stance on the crisis in Ukraine as objective, fair and on the right side of history.
