Hundreds of environmental activists demonstrated across Britain today against government practices causing climate change, as part of a campaign to force Boris Johnson's government to end its reliance on environmentally harmful fossil fuels.
Reuters reported that activists from the environmental groups Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil closed ten oil refineries around London, Birmingham and Southampton.
Essex County police, east of the capital, said they were dealing with three incidents and made six arrests.
These protests are part of large demonstrations that the Extinction Rebellion group intends to carry out and says that their aim is to make enough noise (to make a moment of transformation) and these demonstrations are scheduled to start on the ninth of this April.
The group calls for an urgent response from governments and a collective action to move away from industries that pollute the environment in order to avoid the worst-case scenarios of destruction mentioned by the scientists, and said in a statement: "The government has chosen to continue its addiction to fossil fuels... rather than speeding up the transition to a future led by renewable energy."
The protests come days before the Johnson government announced its new energy strategy, which is expected to boost domestic supplies in an attempt to protect Britain from a wave of price hikes.
Britain had pledged to achieve the goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050.
