Haddad discusses with Primakov a solution to some of the difficulties facing Syrian students studying in Russia

Syrian Ambassador to Russia Dr. Riad Haddad discussed with Yevgeny Primakov, Director of the Russian Federal Agency for International Cooperation, Ross Sotrodnichestva, the situation of Syrian students studying in Russian universities and institutes and ways to solve the difficulties they face so that they can continue their educational attainment.

During the meeting, the issue of extending visas for doctoral students was discussed so that they could discuss their theses, in addition to taking into account the situation of students who studied the preparatory year in Syria “online format” as a result of the spread of the Corona epidemic, and whether there is a possibility to provide them with more assistance to strengthen their Russian language.

Ambassador Haddad reiterated Syria's supportive stance for Russia in its special military operation aimed at protecting civilians in Donbass and uprooting Nazism from Ukraine.

In turn, Primakov expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to Syria and its genuine people for its stance stemming from a historical and loving relationship with the Russian people, stressing that the agency he heads is ready to overcome all obstacles facing Syrian students during their educational attainment in Russian universities and institutes, including looking into the issue of extending student visas for students. PhD or additional language courses for students who have not been able to study the Russian language on their own.

Primakov indicated that the agency has raised the number of scholarships offered to Syrian students to 759 for this year, and will seek to bring the number to 1,000, according to the agreement made last year.
