Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev suggested expanding the list of products prohibited to be imported into Russia from unfriendly countries, describing the export of Russian agricultural products as a "silent weapon".
"We will not supply our goods and agricultural products to non-friends, and we will not buy anything from them, although we have not bought since 2014, but the list of prohibited products can be expanded," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel.
Russia is the world's leading exporter of wheat between 2020 and 2022 with 37.3 million tons. It is also one of the largest producers of sunflower oil, as the cultivation of sunflower seeds in the country occupies 6.8 million hectares of land.
