Winter is back in Lower Saxony.

Locally, frost, ice and snow showers can impede traffic, including in the Harz Mountains and in Hildesheim.

Göttingen ‒ Right on time for the start of April (April 1st, 2022), winter is back in Lower Saxony* after a mostly mild March.

But be careful, this April Fool's joke can lead to traffic restrictions depending on the region.

The police urgently recommends snow chains and winter equipment to road users - especially in the Harz Mountains, which should be avoided if possible.

There was heavy snowfall in the Hildesheim area.

This is one of the reasons why progress is slow on the Autobahn, a commuter reported.

There are traffic jams at a construction site on the A7 near Hildesheim-Drispenstedt.
