Mallorca will again be one of the most popular travel destinations for Germans in 2022.

Which might also be due to the fact that the flight prices are extremely low.

Ryanair offers one-way flights to Palma for less than 15 euros – for example on April 2nd from Cologne/Bonn Airport or on May 22nd from BER in Berlin.

Eurowings is also advertising flights to Palma de Mallorca from EUR 29.99 in April (as of April 1).

Even a tank filling in Germany costs more.

But how does that square with airlines warning of soaring fuel prices due to the Ukraine war?

Low fares on Mallorca flights – soon to be over?

According to a report in the Mallorca Zeitung

, a spokeswoman explains the cheap Ryanair tariffs by

saying that the airline

bought its fuel requirements for the first quarter a long time ago

.

The requirement from April to June is already 80 percent covered and from July to September 70 percent.

Most other airlines, however, are expecting prices to rise

soon

: "Since the oil price is still at a record high, flight tickets for guests will become more expensive," says the Condor report, for example.

Lufthansa shied away from

Mallorca Magazin

more cautious and declares that he wants to "observe market and competitive behavior" and to react if necessary.

But that also sounds like short-term price increases are possible.

However, the demand for flights is currently slowed down, as aviation expert Cord Schellenberg

tells the

Mallorca Zeitung .

"That's why the airlines are stimulating the market." Airlines are therefore offering more flights than there is demand, which results in lower prices.

Nevertheless, the expert believes that prices will rise: "Expectations are still high for the summer, hence the higher price level."

scam of the airlines?

What you should pay attention to when booking a holiday

Bild.de

, on the other hand, suspects a scam by the airlines behind the low ticket prices:

while the outward flight is dirt cheap, the airlines would use it all the more for the return flights

, according to analyzes by the price comparison

portal Idealo

.

The newspaper claims to have observed this on return flights in the summer months, especially with Easyjet, Ryanair and Eurowings, less so with Condor, Air Europa or Tuifly.

The situation is different with the

Mallorca Zeitung

: At the end of March, Ryanair and Easyjet discovered numerous cheap return flights to Germany – until June.

Ultimately, it remains important not to fall into ecstasy immediately after a cheap outbound flight and to thoroughly comb through the offers:

Then there is definitely the possibility of finding cheap return flights

.

It is helpful to look for outbound and return flights separately – and to book outbound and return flights with different airlines.
