The district honored the winners of the 2021 energy prize in the middle of the week.

Among them were entrepreneurs, joint building ventures and private individuals.

District - One of the winners of the first prize and thus also the prize money of 2500 euros is Martin Schröferl from Bachhausen.

In 2013 he had his house built as an "experimental house" in timber construction.

The living area is 160 square meters.

The radical approach with one hundred percent energy self-sufficiency without a public power connection convinced the jury of the energy prize.

A photovoltaic system on the roof, which reaches eight kilowatts peak at a slope of 29 degrees, and a large battery storage as a buffer are the only power sources for the house.

With its energy-saving behavior, Schröferl has an annual electricity consumption of only around 4000 kilowatt hours for household, heat pump and electric car.

His conclusion after eight years in the energy self-sufficient passive house: live ten months in excess of energy and save two months.

A very good solution for the Bachhauser.

"Some will certainly envy Martin Schröferl for his house in the current situation," said Herbert Schwarz, energy and environmental advisor in the district office.

A company with exemplary character

The carpentry Pfisterer from Farchach convinced the jury of the energy award as a climate-neutral company and was also awarded first prize and 2500 euros in prize money.

The company with 19 employees has been committed to sustainable management and social issues for many years.

The joinery uses 100% renewable energy for heat and electricity.

A wood chip heating system for the company building and two adjacent residential buildings is filled with wood waste from the carpentry workshop and from the company's own forest.

The photovoltaic system on the roof of the workshop achieves a peak output of 19.8 kilowatts.

It is also important to the company that employees pay attention to sustainability and climate protection.

A sustainability report lays out the results of the joinery openly.

"Something like this has to be more popular," said energy and environmental consultant Herbert Schwarz.

"The transferability and role model function for other companies are particularly great."

Sustainable living and working

The semi-detached house with an office unit built in 2003 by the M5 builders' association in Wörthsee was able to secure third place in the energy prize.

Around twenty years ago, the builders were backing 100% renewable energies with a groundwater heat pump, a wood-burning stove and two photovoltaic systems, as well as the predominant use of renewable and regional raw materials.

"Although the PV system faces north, the yield is high," said energy and environmental consultant Herbert Schwarz.

The jury was also impressed by the flexible and therefore future-proof floor plan design of the building.

The facade greening, which improves the microclimate and biodiversity, is particularly striking.

In addition, a green roof on the house and carport ensures more water absorption capacity.

An e-car that is primarily fueled with its own electricity

ten covered bicycle parking spaces and several bicycle trailers for small transports show that the builders integrate sustainability and climate protection into their everyday lives.
