Two South Korean air force planes collided mid-air and crashed on Friday (April 1), killing four servicemen, the Seoul military said.

The KT-1 trainer planes crashed near the city of Sacheon, about 300 kilometers south of the capital Seoul, according to military authorities.
The military will look into "the exact situation of the damage and investigate the cause of the accident," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
More than 30 firefighters and rescue workers were dispatched to the crash site, according to the Yonhap news agency.
Friday's crash is the latest accident involving South Korean air force jets this year.

In January, an Air Force pilot was killed in the crash of an F-5 fighter jet.
This accident had occurred shortly after the entire fleet of F-35 fighter planes had been grounded: one of these planes had been forced to make a spectacular emergency landing at the following a major systemic dysfunction.
The Korean Peninsula is still in a state of technical war, with the armistice that ended the conflict in 1953 still not being replaced by a peace treaty.
