Artists like Dominik Halamek had an extremely difficult time during the Corona period.

The Waldramer emerges strengthened with the show "Circus of Fantasy".

Wolfratshausen

- First the corona pandemic, now war - artists don't have it easy these days, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

But difficult times in life can also be opportunities.

Dominik Halamek used the period of standstill and the ban on performing in the cultural scene to become clear about what he wanted in life.

Our colleague Andrea Weber recently met the Wolfratshausen choreographer, artist and dancer in the country house café.

The conversation was a position determination and a glimpse into the future.

Mr. Halamek, artistically creative work requires perseverance, strength and a high level of motivation.

How do you motivate yourself to keep going?

Dominik Halamek:

There were moments when I thought about whether it would be healthier to look for another job in the long term.

But I'll say it in a nutshell: I can't help it.

Were you able to make good use of the time you were banned from performing?

Halamek:

I used the first lockdown to work through everything that was left behind.

In the second lockdown, which lasted eight months and everything I love was banned, things got more difficult.

I wasn't allowed to run my dance studio or play theatre.

I can work hard if I see immediate results.

When that wasn't there, it was tough.

Have you resigned?

Halamek:

No, on the contrary: I felt that I would fight for my life.

I realized what I want and what makes me special.

What do you want?

Halamek: Be

creative and share that with others.

I've never been for profit.

But I'm more aware than ever that it's not about having money, it's about what you can do with it.

I wish I could live on what I love.

You recently went to Las Vegas.

If you got a job there, you could have gotten rich.

why are you back again

Halamek:

Hardly any creative person gets rich in Las Vegas.

You are interchangeable there.

Make-up is applied and no one in the audience knows who is behind the mask.

I've had a few meetings with influential people.

Las Vegas is certainly one of the superlatives of the show industry, but is that what you want?

It was clear to me that I had done a lot of things right in my life, and above all I was looking forward to being at home and to the performances in the Loisachhalle.

It is nearly time.

We see you in the "Circus of Fantasy".

A great variety of dance, music and acrobatics.

You did this all by yourself.

Halamek:

This is my baby, this is me.

I came up with the idea, the name and above all the philosophy.

I believe in togetherness without classic hierarchy.

I'm not the boss, at most the one responsible.

In our team, everyone earns the same, whether soloist or member of the ensemble.

Fairness and respect towards all people is the most important thing for me - also towards artists from Ukraine, Sweden, Russia, Austria, and from anywhere else in the world.

You don't look away, you do what you can.

For example, they still help in the Corona test station in Geretsried.

Now you help people from the war zone.

Halamek

: As far as I can.

We helped the dad of one of my best friends get out of the war zone.

Call me, I told her, if I can pick him up somewhere, if he needs money for a flight, a toothbrush or medication.

I use my social media account to draw attention to the escape aid and to ask for donations.

The fugitives usually only have one suitcase full.

Your view of the future: Is there confidence or resignation?

Halamek:

Confidence, because there's a reason things are the way they are.

And I know what's in my heart stays with me.
