Almost every clinic in Bavaria has a corona ward.

This could fill up again in the coming days.

Therefore, the operators and Health Minister Holetschek hope that the citizens will take personal responsibility.

The end of the Corona rules is near.

Clinics and politicians have no choice but to appeal to common sense and the personal responsibility of the citizens.

Munich – The so-called “Freedom Day” is imminent.

Sunday is the end of 2G, 3G* and many other corona rules.

From this point in time, the Federal Infection Protection Act only provides for basic protection.

Only in exceptional cases can the state parliaments make use of a hotspot regulation for certain regions and districts.

End of the corona protection measures: Bavarian clinics react with concern

Although the omicron wave has led to extremely high case numbers, it has been largely mild so far.

At the moment there is no threat of overburdening the hospitals or the health system.

But with the omission of almost all protective measures, the corona pandemic * could get another dynamic.

What remains is “only a narrow basic protection.

But laws will not end a pandemic!” said Roland Engehausen, Managing Director of the Bavarian Hospital Society (BKG) on Saturday.

With the “Protect yourself and the health system in Bavaria” campaign, numerous clinics in the Free State are calling on citizens to voluntarily wear masks, get vaccinated and follow the hygiene rules.

"Unfortunately, almost all corona protection measures outside of the healthcare sector are due to expire on Sunday," said Engehausen, adding: "We are concerned about the risks involved."

With associated risks, Engehausen also means an increase in the number of infections and a renewed filling of the hospitals in Bavaria *.

This could and is already having a significant impact on the treatment of other patients.

“The clinics are already having to postpone many treatments that can be planned in order to ensure the acutely necessary care.

But this is not justifiable in the long term,” said Engehausen.

End of the Corona measures: Holetschek continues to criticize the federal government

Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) has also been less enthusiastic about the federal government's corona policy in recent weeks.

He therefore appealed to citizens on Saturday to show reason and personal responsibility.

The ordinance that will apply from April 3 only contains recommendations for some measures such as general wearing of masks indoors or the creation of a hygiene concept.

"We can no longer legally order this." The federal states would "unfortunately have to pay for the bad law of the Berlin traffic light government".

The CSU politician also praised the health care workers.

The staff have done “superhuman” things in the past two years.

In his own words, he supports the BKG campaign.

"Even if we all long for normalcy: It's still too early for that.

We are still stuck in the corona pandemic.”

According to the information, about 190 hospital operators with more than 360 hospitals and a total of around 75,000 beds are combined in the Bavarian Hospital Society.

In Bavaria's clinics, around three million inpatients and a further 2.5 million outpatients are treated every year.
