Despite increased costs, the district councils stand by the new construction of the district office in Miesbach.

Including social housing and an underground car park, the project costs 50.7 million euros.

District

– The district councilors were not entirely comfortable in view of the expected costs of 50.7 million euros.

But "there is no way back", as CSU parliamentary group spokesman Christian Köck put it.

The planning for the new construction of the district office, including social housing and underground car park, is being pushed ahead.

"We're getting a modern service center," said Robert Wiechmann (Greens).

"We mustn't worry now."

By the way:

Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Miesbach newsletter.

Ultimately, it was just a status report from the administration, which the district council took note of at its meeting.

The district committee had previously spoken out in favor of continuing the project in the form presented.

As is well known, the costs will climb from 39.9 million euros (as of January 2021) to an estimated 50.7 million.

The reason is massive price increases in construction, but also an increase in the area of social housing by around 800 square meters.

District Treasurer Gerhard de Biasio was firmly convinced in the district council that there would be a subsidy of around three million euros for the apartments from the Free State.

As soon as the necessary documents are available, the grant will be applied for.

But he also confessed: "If it falls away, we have a problem."

District Treasurer hopes for funding programs

There could also be additional money from the new KfW funding program for energy-efficient buildings.

"We definitely have a chance of slipping in here," he said.

However, the framework conditions have not yet been determined.

Any subsidies have therefore not yet been deposited in the planning.

Biasio advised to "go through with the new building project quickly" because of the increase in construction costs.

Even aborting would be a mistake.

"We have already spent two million euros and continue to spend money every day," he recalled.

"It doesn't get any cheaper." Miesbach's Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) also described the new building as an "important project" for the city and district, which should now be implemented quickly.

"I can't see any mistakes," he said.

Because of the property around the registration office, which serves the district office as an iron financial reserve, there is a close exchange.

"If there is a need for action, we will get in touch immediately," he promised.

A reduction in the district levy is probably not to be expected so quickly

Miesbach's Deputy Mayor Astrid Güldner (Greens) described the price increases as a "bitter pill".

At around 10.5 million euros, the three-storey underground car park is particularly significant.

"I would like the same amount to be invested in alternative mobility concepts as for parking," said the district councillor, but at the same time admitted that it was positive that the parking spaces were going underground and living space was being built above them.

Paul Fertl (SPD), like Gisela Hölscher (FW), insisted on keeping an eye on the construction costs: "These are numbers that are depressing and that could overwhelm the district and the communities." A reduction in the district levy is expected in the next few years probably not to be expected.

Elimination of rented administration buildings saves 500,000 euros per year

Small consolation: If the new building complex goes into operation in stages in the summer and autumn of 2025, there will be no need to spend elsewhere.

Simply by eliminating the administration building that is still rented, the district saves around half a million euros per year "conservatively calculated" (Biasio).

Schliersee's Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) calculated that rental income from social housing could be expected to be EUR 200,000 to 250,000 per year.

Of course, the money should go for the repayment.

The district treasurer had already announced in the district committee that new debt would probably have to be taken on for the construction of social housing.
