The Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Dr. Ali Hammiyeh, affirmed that the establishment of an economic zone near the Lebanese-Syrian al-Qaa border crossing will contribute to attracting local and foreign investments and enhance Lebanon's economic status.
During a meeting he held today with activists from the Bekaa Valley, Hamiyah explained that this economic zone will lead to the revitalization of regional economic cycles in addition to creating job opportunities and will be of importance in promoting economic integration between the two brotherly countries, Syria and Lebanon.
About two weeks ago, the Lebanese Council of Ministers approved decisions on setting the border crossings with Syria to activate transit, trucks and refrigerators crossing between the two countries and to facilitate movement at a lower cost.
