The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that more than 100 extremists and mercenaries were killed in a missile strike carried out by Russian forces in the city of Kharkov, eastern Ukraine.

"As a result of a high-precision strike that was carried out on a defense headquarters in Kharkov by the Iskander system, it has been proven that more than 100 extremists and mercenaries from Western countries have been eliminated," the ministry's spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said in a briefing this evening.

Konashenkov pointed out that the Russian forces today put out of service Mirgorod airport in Poltava province and destroyed several helicopters and a Ukrainian warplane that were discovered in camouflaged stations inside it, in addition to fuel tanks and aircraft weapons.

"Armored vehicles, ammunition and fuel tanks sent to reinforce the group of Ukrainian forces in Donbass were destroyed by air-launched missiles in the vicinity of the Lozovaya and Pavlograd railway stations," Konashenkov added.

Konashenkov pointed out that the Russian Air Force targeted 28 Ukrainian military sites today, including missile, artillery and ammunition depots, and 23 areas of combat vehicles.

Konashenkov indicated that the forces of the Lugansk People's Republic continue to advance on the positions of the 57th brigade of the Ukrainian army, where about 30 extremists and five armored vehicles were eliminated.

According to the ministry, since the beginning of its operation in Ukraine, the Russian forces have destroyed 125 aircraft, 88 helicopters, 381 drones, 1,888 tanks and other armored vehicles, 205 rocket launchers, 793 artillery and mortars, in addition to 1,771 military vehicles.
