Figueres hopes that Costa Rica will become a "modern country" 1:58
(CNN Spanish) --
On April 3, just over 3.5 million Costa Ricans will be able to go to the voting centers to elect a new president and his two vice presidents during a second presidential round.
But what will the ballot paper look like?
During the first round, the results of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) placed former president José María Figueres, candidate of the center-left National Liberation party, in first place, with an advantage of just over 10 percentage points.
And in second place was former Finance Minister Rodrigo Chaves, from the conservative Social Democratic Progress party.
Who is Rodrigo Chaves, the former minister in the second round of the Costa Rican elections?
Who is José María Figueres, the former president who is contesting the second round of the Costa Rican elections?
This Sunday it will be decided which of them will assume the presidency on May 8 for the period 2022-2026.

What to mark to vote?
You must use the available crayon or your own pen to mark with an "X" the candidate of your choice.
Once you have marked the box of your choice, you must fold the ballot so that the signatures of the voting board are visible and then deposit it in a ballot box.
Vote centers open at 6:00 am local time on Sunday, April 3 and will close at 6:00 pm the same day.
