Ukrainian media reported today (Saturday) the deaths of Natalia Perkov, the first fighter squadron of the Ukrainian Air Force and the first woman in the country to successfully complete a combat pilot course.
Perkov reportedly died of her wounds at a military hospital after being fatally wounded in combat operations over the skies of Ukraine.
No surprise was announced when Perkov was arrested but last month she was reported injured and even claimed to have been killed, a statement denied by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Perkov, 28, flew MiG-29 fighter jets, the most advanced and common fighter jet in the hands of Ukraine's small and outdated air force, which managed to avoid total destruction during the fighting against the larger and more advanced Russian air force.
Despite Russia's claim to have destroyed the Ukrainian Air Force, two tenacious Ukrainian Mi-24 attack helicopters attacked the oil plant in Belgorod.

Yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Ukrainian Air Force attacked fuel tanks near helicopters and fighter jets near the city of Belogrod in western Russia.
Eight large fuel tanks were reportedly completely destroyed after they were hit by missile fire from Ukrainian Air Force mi-24 helicopters.
According to sources close to the Ukrainian army, the helicopters flew at a particularly low altitude in order to evade the Russian radar and managed to return safely to their base.
In Russia, two workers were reportedly seriously injured.
