Sabbath Saturday: Tens of thousands of hikers set out for nature reserves and national parks
The Israelis took advantage of the spring weather and went out en masse to the tracks along the length and breadth of the country.
Among the prominent sites visited by the Israelis were the Yarkon National Park, Tel Afek, Masada, Tel Ashkelon and the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve.

Tens of thousands of Israelis went for a walk today (Saturday) in the nature reserves and national parks, and enjoyed the spring weather.
We have updated the nature reserves and national parks that about 50,000 hikers have hiked so far.
Among the prominent sites visited by the Israelis were the Yarkon National Park, Tel Afek, Masada, Tel Ashkelon and the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve.
Many of the hikers reached the beach of the Ein Gev resort village, which opened the bathing season on the lake yesterday, where only 35 cm are missing until it fills up.

Today the Givat Merar National Park was inaugurated in a solemn ceremony with the Brenner Regional Council.
"27% of the State of Israel's area is national parks and nature reserves. I am happy to inaugurate a new national park and thank the council for its close cooperation," said Raya Soraki, Acting Director General of the Nature and Parks Authority.
"I am happy to see the public coming, hiking and enjoying the Bitter Hills National Park. The only way to preserve nature is with you," she added.

During the weekend the temperatures rose considerably from the beginning, and became warmer and drier than usual in most parts of the country.
Compared to March, which has been one of the coldest months in the country for several decades, the first week of April will continue the warming trend, when in most of the country the temperatures will be normal for the season, and inland it will still be warm.
Tomorrow there will be a significant drop in temperatures and an increase in humidity, but in the mountains and inland the temperatures will continue to be higher than normal for the season.
On Monday there will be another drop in temperatures.
In the coastal plain and in the lowlands the temperatures will be normal for the season, and in the mountains and inland it will still be warm.
