A 40-year-old resident of Ashdod was arrested today (Saturday) on suspicion that as part of his work as a coach in circus circles, he committed sexual offenses while exploiting the authority of minors, which he coached for years.
The investigation began with a complaint filed with the Ashdod police against the suspect by a young woman, according to which while training with the suspect several years ago when she was a minor, he committed sexual offenses using his status and authority, and was exposed to offenses he also committed against other minors.
The suspect was arrested last night on suspicion of offenses against a minor under the age of 16 without free consent, on the grounds of a minor while exploiting a dependency / authority relationship, an indecent act on a minor and other offenses.
Also, the suspect currently trains minors in two circles in the city of Ashdod, and police investigators are now focusing their investigative efforts on locating additional minors who fell victim to the suspect's actions.
The suspect will be brought before a court this evening with a request to extend his detention.
