The United States Navy will build a ship that they will name in honor of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away in 2020.
Intended to honor Ginsburg's fight for women's rights, according to a Navy statement, T-AO 212, an oil tanker refueling ship, will be dedicated.
"My goal is to ensure equality and eliminate gender discrimination throughout the Department of the Navy. She is critical so that we now have women of all backgrounds, experiences, and talents serving within our ranks, alongside their counterparts," said Carlos Del Toro, secretary of the Navy.

The ship is of the T-AO class, a type of ship named in honor of American personalities who have contributed to the fight for Human Rights.
The foremost in this category, the T-AO 205, is named after the late Georgia representative John Lewis.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died at the age of 87 due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
For 27 years on the high court, the judge led important debates and defended the fight for abortion rights and the Me Too movement.
In addition, her participation was key in a debate for women's access to the Virginia Military Institute.
