Sunday is Corona "Freedom Day" in Bavaria - also in the gastro.

Do the masks fall at midnight sharp?

And how do the operators react?

An overview.

Munich - The "Freedom Day" is imminent: On Sunday, the masks will also fall in many places in Bavaria, 2G and 3G access requirements will then also no longer exist.

A complete overview of the Corona rules and relaxation can be found here.

Corona "Freedom Day" in Bavaria: Rules relaxed in the gastro - what happens at midnight?

But what does that mean for the restaurants and bars?

Can you only go to the gastro on Saturday (April 2nd) under 2G or 3G conditions and with a mask and is it possible to party at midnight without these measures?

From April 3, the Federal Infection Protection Act will only allow “basic protective measures”, explains a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health when asked by

Merkur.de

.

The new 16th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance will therefore come into force on April 3rd.

This is valid until April 30th and exhausts the framework of the basic protection measures still granted by the federal government.

“These measures affect the obligation to wear masks and the obligation to test for the presence of an infection with the coronavirus”, but only in facilities with vulnerable groups (e.g. hospitals and doctor’s offices), “but not discotheques. The new regulation comes into effect at exactly 0 a.m April 3, 2022 in force", the spokeswoman continued on

Merkur.de

demand.

However, general protective and hygiene measures are still recommended.

  • maintaining the minimum distance

  • wearing medical face masks indoors

  • as well as voluntary hygiene concepts (particularly visitor management, disinfection)

Rules relaxed in Bavaria - can local people prescribe stricter corona rules?

Corona tests or access restrictions (2G/3G) and a mask requirement no longer exist outside of facilities such as medical practices or public transport.

But: "As before, the BayIfSMV's infection protection regulations do not have any private law-shaping effect in this context," the spokeswoman continued.

The regulations on protection against infection therefore do not in principle preclude any stricter access requirements based on the domiciliary rights of the respective operator/organiser.

Most of the Corona rules are no longer applicable: This will apply in Bavaria from April 3rd

Corona mask requirement in Bavaria expires: “It goes in the residual waste bin on Saturday night at 0 a.m.”

How does the gastro react to the relaxation of the Corona rules?

Monika Pummer from the Gasthof Dragoner in Peiting has a very clear opinion on the mask in the catering trade: "It goes in the residual waste bin at midnight on Saturday night," she says when asked by

Merkur.de

.

Punctually from midnight there will be neither masks nor 3G controls in her hotel, the restaurant and the associated whiskey bar that she runs with her brother.

Corona rules in the gastro: "It's just ridiculous"

For Pummer, the obligation to wear a mask in the catering trade was not obvious from the outset.

"It's just ridiculous," says the 48-year-old.

"What sense does it make if I can take off the mask in place but have to put it on when I walk two meters further to the toilet?" The number of infections would still explode despite the mask and 3G.

"We just have to learn to live with Corona," says Pummer.

"It won't go away."

Your guests and employees would be "happy like schnitzel" that the regulations are finally falling.

However, Pummer leaves it up to everyone whether they want to continue wearing a mask or not.

“I will also wear a mask myself – in the pharmacy or in the supermarket.

But not in gastronomy,” she makes clear.

The admission controls were "a stupid Gfrett".

"Some forgot their identity cards, so I had to send them away again," she says.

Even though Pummer knew some of the guests.

“But who do you make an exception for and who don’t?” asks the restaurateur.

She strictly adhered to the guidelines and is therefore all the more relieved that there are no longer any restrictions.

"But let's see how long it stays that way," says the native of Peiting.

Corona "Freedom Day": Havana Club in Munich - No rule changes at midnight

Boris König is bar manager at the Munich cocktail bar Havana Club near the Isator.

On Saturday at midnight there will be no masks in the club.

The 3G controls will also continue to be maintained at night.

"We won't waive the measures until the next day," says König.

"So when we open again on Sunday." The fact that there will be no 3G controls at the entrance will make things easier for the company.

Nevertheless, the bar boss sees risks in not wearing masks.

"Let's see how it all goes," he says.

"We're just trying to keep the bar open for as long as possible."
