From April 3rd, the mask requirement as well as 2G or 3G and the obligation to test will be lifted in many places.

What to look out for from Sunday: An overview.

Munich – The government around Markus Söder has decided against a hotspot regulation for the Free State.

This means that a large part of the previously valid corona measures will expire on April 2nd.

According to the draft by the federal government around Olaf Scholz, from April 3rd only “a few basic measures” should apply.

But what does that mean specifically for Bavaria?

An overview of the regulations from Sunday 3 April.

Mask requirement in Bavaria: Where masks still have to be worn from Sunday

The FFP2 mask requirement will no longer apply in many areas from April 3rd.

However, the mouth and nose cover must still be worn in the following areas:

  • FFP2 mask requirement still applies

    :

  • In facilities that look after vulnerable groups (including medical practices and hospitals)

  • In public transport, i.e. in buses, trains and planes

There is no obligation to wear a mask in schools, shops and indoor public spaces.

However, the state government continues to recommend “wearing medical face masks indoors” on a voluntary basis.

Compulsory testing and 2G/3G in Bavaria: Pupils and some employees still have to test themselves

According to the new package of measures, the terms 2G (vaccinated and recovered) and 3G (vaccinated, recovered and tested) will no longer exist in Bavaria from Sunday, April 3rd.

There are no access restrictions for concerts, restaurants and other public events.

  • Test rules still apply here:

  • Schools and day-care centers (regularly to the same extent as before)

  • Hospitals, nursing and retirement homes (updated daily for visitors and unvaccinated employees; otherwise: two per week)

  • Prisons (updated daily for visitors and unvaccinated employees; otherwise: two per week)

"Freedom Day" in Bavaria - First of all tests in schools

In schools and day-care centers, tests will continue to be carried out regularly to the same extent as before.

The Council of Ministers wants to decide in good time what the regulations will look like after the Easter holidays.

"In the case of cases of infection in a class or group, there is still an increased test regime," said the Bavarian State Ministry.

Even in facilities for vulnerable groups, such as hospitals, nursing homes and retirement homes, visitors and unvaccinated or recovered employees must present a daily test.

Two tests per week are sufficient for employees who have been vaccinated or have recovered.

The same applies to correctional facilities.

Most measures fall from April 3rd.

Further corona recommendations for Bavaria: distance and masks should remain

With the abolition of the measures, Bavaria is increasingly relying on independent action.

In addition to the relaxed rules, the Bavarian Ministry of Health recommends that general protective and hygiene measures continue to be observed on a voluntary basis.

In particular, maintaining the minimum distance, wearing medical face masks indoors and voluntary hygiene concepts such as disinfection are mentioned.

On the other hand, the quarantine regulations could be relaxed.

Health Minister Holetschek called for the isolation rules to be relaxed – especially for one professional group.
