Today, the Ministry of Education launched a mental health awareness campaign targeting 1.4 million students from basic and secondary education in 2,800 schools in various governorates.
The campaign, which includes several topics, including exam anxiety and bullying, aims to raise mental health awareness and introduce the mechanism to properly confront psychological phenomena and prevent infectious diseases.
In a statement to SANA, the director of school health at the ministry, Dr. Hatoon Al-Tawashi, indicated that the campaign continues until the 28th of this month and is implemented during the official working days in schools and includes awareness and health education sessions focusing on the dangers of bullying and is directed to students of the first cycle of basic education from 6 to 12 years old and awareness sessions On exam anxiety for students of the second cycle of basic education, general secondary education, and vocational education from 12 to 18 years old.
The campaign program, according to Al-Tawashi, also includes awareness sessions about gender-based violence and health education to prevent the Corona virus, provided to students and students of basic and secondary education, in addition to interactive activities that include drawings, plays, and musical and lyrical paragraphs.
Al-Tawashi pointed out that the campaign program is implemented by 140 teams distributed in different governorates of school health and psychological counseling workers, who were trained in specialized training workshops.
