The World Health Organization today (Sunday) included Israel in the list of countries with polio, along with various countries in Africa.

Israel has not been on this list for more than 30 years.

To date, eight children in Israel have been diagnosed with polio findings, including only one symptomatic girl.

All the children are from the central Jerusalem area, from populations that have never been to breastfeeding and attend unrecognized schools, so there has been difficulty in the epidemiological investigation.

At the beginning of last month, the first case of polio in an Israeli fight since 1989 was discovered in a 4-year-old boy in Jerusalem who had not been vaccinated.

Following this, the Ministry of Health recommended that "routine vaccinations be completed as soon as possible."

The Jerusalem District Health Bureau opened an epidemiological investigation and contacted the child in close contact to provide specific instructions.

Depending on the findings of the investigation, further recommendations will be decided.

Polio is an infectious disease caused by the polio virus.

The virus is contagious and is transmitted from person to person, especially in children.

The virus enters the body through the mouth and is excreted in the feces.

The Ministry of Health has made it clear that only one in a thousand people (who are not vaccinated) will develop symptoms symptomatically with paralysis.
