First they formed a peace sign together, then they ran for the Ukraine: teachers and students at the Zugspitz Realschule in Garmisch-Partenkirchen sent a sign for peace.
And donated a lot of money.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen – The Zugspitz-Realschule Garmisch-Partenkirchen set a sign for peace.
This is by no means just symbolic.
The students and teachers collected a whopping 25,176.90 euros during the charity run for the Ukraine.
The entire sum goes to the "Action Alliance for Disaster Relief".
In keeping with the occasion, the day began with a symbol: around 400 students and teachers formed the peace sign together.
Then - after the starting gun was given by headmistress Regina Spitzer - everyone set off for a good cause.
For 60 minutes they ran the given lap of around 300 meters in length on the Zerhoch sports field.
The best managed over 40 laps.
Vice President Markus Lieb was particularly fascinated by the "joy and motivation with which the students took on the challenge, even with crutches, holding hands and suffering from blisters".
Beforehand, the students had looked for their sponsors, who either donated a fixed amount or money per round.
In addition, the young people had made peace symbols that now adorn the windows of the school.
The charity run was organized by the sports department together with the student council (SMV).
The campaign was moderated by student representative Florian Aichinger and sports teacher Peter Dowrtiel.
Vice President Lieb speaks of an "unforgettable experience" and a "successful sign for peace".
