.: The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in Bavaria continued to fall on Sunday, April 3rd.

According to RKI information from 3.10 a.m., it is 1838.2 on the so-called “Freedom Day”, on which many of the general corona rules are supposed to fall.

The day before it was 1899.5.

The district of Kulmbach has the highest incidence with 2752.4, in Upper Bavaria the district of Miesbach is most affected with 2574.3.

The incidence is lowest in the city of Schweinfurt at 568.3.

On Saturday, April 2nd, the Bavarian State Office for Health also indicated that the occupancy of intensive care beds by corona patients in Bavarian hospitals was falling by 4.5 percent compared to the previous week.

A total of 4514 intensive care beds in Bavaria were occupied on Saturday, which means a minus of 7.7 percent compared to the previous week.

It is striking, however, that the hospitalization rate for corona patients older than 60 years is 18.2 per 100,000 inhabitants, significantly higher than the overall average of 7.7.

However, it is not clear from these figures whether the patients are in the clinic with or because of Corona.

On Friday, the incidence in Bavaria fell below the 2000 mark for the first time in two weeks. The Robert Koch Institute in Berlin reported a statewide incidence value of 1992.6.

Since mid-March, the incidence in Bavaria has been constantly above 2,000.

In absolute numbers, however, the population of a medium-sized town in Bavaria continues to be infected with the pathogen every day: the RKI reported 51,204 new corona cases and 46 other deaths from Thursday to Friday.

Expert would prefer to use resources more "effectively".

But according to experts, it has long since stopped showing the real pandemic situation.

Instead of reporting every corona case, health authorities should therefore devote themselves to other tasks, says the head of the Medical Association of Public Health Services.

According to the chairman of the medical association for public health services in Bavaria, Andreas Kaunzner, health authorities should no longer have to record every corona case.

"Personally, I would be happy if we could use the resources more effectively," Kaunzner told the German Press Agency.

"It would be important to focus on vulnerable groups such as seniors or the chronically ill."

Corona in Bavaria: "The data situation is somewhat suboptimal"

A comprehensive collection is basically sensible, but at the moment it is simply not possible for the authorities to do it.

Many of the 76 health authorities in Bavaria can no longer keep up with the reporting of corona infections in their area of ​​responsibility, said Kaunzner.

"So the data situation is a bit suboptimal." In view of the high incidence, contact tracing has not been possible for some time anyway.

In addition, the health authorities could no longer rely on the help of police officers and Bundeswehr soldiers, said Kaunzner.

With the partial vaccination requirement in the healthcare system and the refugees from Ukraine, the authorities would also have additional tasks – “in addition to all the tasks that we already had before the pandemic”.

Many doctors in the public health service did not take vacation last year and sometimes worked hundreds of overtime, said Kaunzner, who works in the health department in Aschaffenburg.

Since the busiest months are still ahead with a view to monitoring the partial vaccination requirement, it would be “quite a relief” not to have to record every corona case.

On Thursday, the Robert Koch Institute * (RKI) reported a value of 2042.1.

Compared to the previous day (2083.8), it has fallen slightly.

However, this is the second highest incidence nationwide, only Saarland surpasses the Free State with a corona incidence of 2251.1.
