The half-brother of the King of Jordan, Hamza bin al-Hussein, announced today (Sunday) that he is relinquishing his title of princess.
Former Prince Hamza posted the letter on his official Twitter account.
Last year, the former regent was charged with conspiracy to undermine royal stability, and sentenced to house arrest.
In the letter, Hamza came out against King Abdullah without mentioning his name explicitly.
"I have come to the conclusion that state institutions do not act according to the principles on which my father (King Hussein) educated me," Hamza noted, adding that he will continue to be loyal to Jordan, and will do everything in his power to serve the Jordanian state and people as a private citizen.

The letter that Hamza posted on his Twitter account
Hamza's relinquishment of the title comes after he met with King Abdullah on March 8, and apologized to him for his conduct in an affair dubbed about a year ago by the king's palace as a "coup attempt."
In the apology letter, Hamza admitted that "his conduct was wrong and promised that he would not repeat it in the future."
The letter would have seemed silvery to the internal conflict in the royal family, and so it is not entirely clear what the background to the renewed explosion was.
In a Hamza video statement taken a year ago, during the trial against him, the former prince denied the allegations and said he was being punished for "statements against official corruption".
Jordanian King Abdullah and Hamza are both sons of King Hussein, who ruled Jordan for almost 50 years, before his death in 1999.
Abdullah appointed Hamza as his successor, but deprived him of the title in 2004.
