The Ministries of Transportation and Finance today (Sunday) launched the "Equal Way" reform in public transportation.

As part of this, travel prices on urban and intercity travel were reduced and fares for different populations were changed.

Walla!

The reform presents its main points.

How much will a single city trip cost?

A single city / local trip in each locality in Israel now costs NIS 5.5 and will for the first time allow unlimited transitions between lines for 90 minutes at a distance of up to 15 km by air for travel. For those entitled to discounts - children and youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities and those entitled to social security - the price will be NIS 2.75

.

Yes, on all municipal lines, which include buses, light rail, as well as the Carmelit and the cable car in Haifa, you now pay according to the same fare.

There is a separate fare on the Israel Railways, as detailed below.

Is it possible to travel with the same ticket between neighboring cities for NIS 5.5?

Definitely, as long as the air distance does not exceed 15 km from the first aliyah station. For example, a single trip from Acre to Nahariya, Ramla to Lod, Yavne to Ashdod - will all be considered as a city trip: 5.5 shekels.

Who is entitled to a discount on a single trip

? Security, National Service, Blind - Free Travel Children and Youth, Senior Citizens Up to 75, People with Disabilities and Social Security Beneficiaries Enjoy a 50% discount on the fare, as long as it is purchased at an accrued value. In addition, students are entitled to a 33% discount Or 50% if they

purchase

student-free.

The discount on the purchase of accumulated value is indeed abolished, and is replaced by a uniform, equal and fair set of discounts, which is granted to everyone who is entitled to the discount, regardless of the means of payment or the method of purchase.

In the effective price per passenger there is almost no change.

The base fare for public transportation was supposed to rise from six shekels in most of the country to 6.5 shekels.

An equal way sets the tariff at NIS 5.5.

"Although the 'accumulated value' discount is eliminated for occasional passengers, but also for them, in practice the single trip will increase by only 30 cents, much less than the increase in the price of a liter of gasoline only this month. It pays more, "the Ministry of Transportation said.

The discount on the acquisition of accumulated value is void.

"National Free Monthly" replaces all types of municipal and regional subscriptions that were customary until now, and offers in their place one subscription to all bus lines throughout the country, at a price of NIS 225 or NIS 112.5 for youth and senior citizens.

What is a regional free monthly subscription and where can it be used?

A "regional-free monthly" subscription is offered in all localities outside the 3 major metropolitan areas at a price of only NIS 99, or NIS 49.5 for youth and senior citizens.

Is there a discount on a round-trip train ticket?

For those who plan to travel back and forth on the same day, or plan to travel in addition to the train also by bus or light rail, it is better to purchase a free-daily ticket.

A free-daily ticket on the train costs about as much as a ticket and a half, so in such cases it is better to purchase such a ticket in advance through the multi-line.

The card also allows you to travel by bus at the same travel distance.

For example, if you traveled by Tel Aviv train to Jerusalem, twice by light rail in Jerusalem and back to Tel Aviv, you will be charged an inter-regional daily fee of only NIS 37.

What about a nationwide free monthly combined with the train?

It will be possible to purchase a 'national free monthly' combined with the train, at prices adapted to the train travel range: 255 shekels for travel up to 40 km by train, 410 shekels for travel 40-75 km, and 650 shekels for train travel over 75 Km. These are cheaper prices than existing subscriptions for train travel only.

Discounts for additional populations

Children up to the age of 5 continue to enjoy free travel, accompanied by an escort.

citizens The discount for senior citizens (women from the age of 32, men from the age of 67) remains as it was and stands at 50% on all bus and train lines and all types of subscribers.

The Ministry of Transportation clarified that even those who travel for free will have to attack the ticket, and transfer the multi-line or app on the payment machine.

National Insurance

And the train.

Students

The structure of student discounts has not changed, and is divided into two:

1. Extended student: Students who have purchased an annual or semester free student subscription enjoy a 45-50% discount on the appropriate subscription (national or regional), as well as a 50% discount on each travel ticket or Free-daily by bus or train outside the subscription.

2. Regular student: A student who has not purchased an annual or semester subscription, is entitled to a 33% discount on a single trip.

Payment on the app and pilot payment on credit

As part of the reform, the prices for multi-line payment will be compared with the payment for the various applications.

"The only difference that will remain is that while in the multi-line subscriptions must be purchased and recharged (free-daily, or free-monthly) in advance before use, the apps simply scan and travel - and at the end of the month the most affordable price is calculated," it said.

In addition, payment by credit transfer only or payment applications (Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.) will be approved for the first time.

In the first phase, starting this summer, a pilot will be conducted with Dan, for individual trips.

Subsequently, the arrangement will be extended to all uses and to the whole country.
