Diagonal is a disaster, not just on the road - a family found an apartment that was a stamp for them, but with a tricky drawback: diagonal walls that ruined the fluo and style they dreamed of.

Their designer cracked the solution with the help of "square thinking".

with the saying that slanting is a disaster? Other places where diagonals can make a lot of problems - in planning an apartment, for example. Spouses, in their 40s 3 children, discovered in their flesh how problematic the influence of diagonals can be on the design of their apartment. The two found an apartment in the area they liked But the apartment was sloping (did you see what we did here?) With diagonals that affected the flow of space in it. They were debating whether to purchase it or not, and decided to involve an interior designer already at this stage, to make the right decision. The renovation lasts two months.

"They came to me with the news that they had found an apartment and asked if we could see it together before the purchase," recalls interior designer Ein Rahav, a graduate of Barbara Berzin School of Interior Design.

We immediately realized that it took a bit of flying to understand its potential, to visually clear its current condition, which was withered and heavy. "Rahav and the couple managed to do that, they identified potential there and embarked on a joint process of its full realization.

"The diagonals of the apartment were a real challenge, we solved them by aligning with carpentry and drywall," explains Rahav.

The style chosen for the final look of the apartment was a rustic-eclectic style, out of familiarity and understanding that this is the style that best suits the couple and their family.

"They really like colors, materials, feelings and touch. Objects with heritage also speak to their hearts. The choice of the eclectic style allowed us to combine a range of colors and materials that address every corner of the house."

The rustic touch is also evident in the choice of materials, one example of which is a natural oak parquet floor that covers the floor throughout the apartment, giving it a warm and family feeling.

"In the living room, we chose to add touches of boho chic. Natural and calm shades, together with the carefully measured color eclecticism, created an inviting and cozy living room," says Rahav.

The kitchen in this family home is very active in the daily routine, and they also host regularly.

It is designed to have a dedicated space for every appliance and item in the kitchen - but really.

"We literally walked around the kitchen while planning, to make sure it was accurate for them. We chose a neutral shade for the cabinets, one that would allow us to go wild with bright colors around it," Rahav explains.

This "riot" is reflected in the colorful chairs placed around the dining room table, a blue cube embedded in the drum of an open mop carpentry item and a selection of decorative items on the walls.

The children's bathroom has been redesigned with a large shower, and carpentry is carefully planned, and out of consideration and consideration that this bathroom will also be used as a guest toilet.

This is because the original guest toilets that were in the apartment were demolished, and in their place a carpentry was designed tailored to the client's wishes.

As mentioned, the most significant design challenge that Rahav had to deal with in the apartment was the diagonals in the walls, which affected the visibility and flow of the spaces.

"With Barbara I learned to think square. It sounds funny, but it's just like that - 'Diagonal is a disaster' is known on the roads, but in homes? What do you do? Squares! The walking in the space of the house. "

The bathroom in the master suite was built on what used to be a walk-in closet (diagonal, of course) and the original and small bathroom of the master suite.

The bathroom and closet (contractor model) have been combined into one luxurious and spacious bathroom.

In a wall that was diagonal in the past, a great niche was designed for bathroom cosmetics, and now there is no trace of the awkward diagonal that was there in the past.

Instead of the canceled closet, a respectable niche was designed in the parents' bedroom into which an invited carpentry closet was fitted.

Thus the storage space is significantly increased compared to what was in the small closet, and the location of the clothes is more convenient and practical for the tenants.

There is no trace of the clumsy diagonal, and the bathroom has become large and spacious.

The master bedroom also included a prominent and very visually and aesthetically pleasing diagonal wall.

"Even energetically, it just did not work," says the designer, "we decided to straighten it with custom carpentry for them. We took the opportunity and incorporated in the carpentry work also a bench that allows and invites for pleasant sitting under the window in their room."

The children's rooms were designed by Rahav after a personal conversation with each of them.

Each one received in their room the touch they requested.
