Education Minister Shasha Bitton announced that the Israel Prize in Lifetime Achievement will be awarded to Marioma Klein for her special contribution to society and the state.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha Bitton, announced today (Monday) that the Israel Prize in the field of Lifetime Achievement will be awarded to the founder of the "Shanti House", Marioma Klein, for her special contribution to society and the state.

The committee justified its choice: "The Israel Prize in the field of Lifetime Achievement - A Special Contribution to Society and the State for the year 2002 is awarded to Ms. Marioma Klein for her many years of work on the social-community level.

'And love thy neighbor as thyself' is a candle to her feet.

In recent decades, it has initiated, established and operated the Shanti House in a wide nationwide distribution intended for populations on the social margins of the State of Israel, regardless of religion, race or gender.

"Marioma imparts principles of education, inclusion and the cultivation of populations at risk of reintegration into the core of Israeli society."
