The Schützengesellschaft Antdorf was unable to celebrate its 140th anniversary last year due to the corona pandemic.
This year, however, the members want to make up for the multi-day festival.
The club, which is one of the oldest in the village, is optimistic about the future.
Antdorf
- "What already exists in other places is also possible for us." That was the idea that made 16 Antdorfers towards the end of the 19th century and from which they founded the "Antdorf Zimmerstutz-Schützen-Gesellschaft" in 1881 .
Leonhard Walser was elected chairman and marksman and the Neue Post inn was designated as the club's premises.
The elementary school teacher Xaver Wacker wrote the association's statutes, which were confirmed in April 1883 by the royal district office.
The parent club, however, grew steadily
This can be read in the commemorative publication that the Antdorfer Schützen published on the occasion of their 125th anniversary in 2006.
It also reads about a quarrel in the club that led to the division of the rifle club in 1897 and the founding of a second society.
The commemorative publication does not give any reasons why this rift came about.
As early as 1906, Schützengesellschaft II was dissolved.
The parent club, however, grew steadily.
In 1914 it had 115 members who met for society, competition or wedding shooting, went on excursions and even acted on a small stage.
2000 working hours for the Schützenheim
The Second World War interrupted the life of the association for about ten years, many members died or did not return home.
In 1949 the club was revived.
A year later, the marksmen were recognized as a registered club and another seven years later, a new club flag was ordered from the Schlehdorf monastery, which was dedicated a year later.
While the shooters initially trained in the Petermichl inn, it was finally decided in cooperation with the community to build a shooter's house on the sports field.
Other clubs should also find space in this building.
Funding came from the community, but the shooters put in over 2,000 hours of work.
The new building was inaugurated in July 1981 – just in time for the club's 100th anniversary.
“We are a very lively club”
To this day, the Antdorfer Schützen have their home here.
It currently has almost 150 members, including many young people.
"We are a very lively club," says Karl Kuhn, who has been the first marksman at the traditional club since 1993.
He is very pleased that young and old, women and men from all generations come together in the Schützenheim to pursue their sport.
Five teams train here regularly for competitions - and they did so quite successfully last year, as Kuhn points out.
Unfortunately, the corona pandemic slowed down many events and tournaments.
The club currently has no youth worries.
Young people in particular could benefit from shooting sports, as they learned to focus on the essentials here.
"It's good concentration training for them,"
Cabaret and evening of honor
In order to continue to be successful in the future, Kuhn sees it as a key project for the near future to rapidly convert all shooting ranges in the basement of the Schützenhaus to electronic systems;
some have already done so.
And after the multi-day club anniversary could not take place in 2021 due to the pandemic, it should be made up for this year.
With a cabaret evening, an evening of honor and a field fair.
However, the exact date for this has not yet been set, according to Kuhn.
